Nancy Zieman Retreat
What a blast! I had such a nice time but it was extremely tiring. I came home each night absolutely exhausted. Last night I slept about 18 hours total. We had 3 project classes. The first one was an embroidered pillow, using the Ellegante. I didn't get it finished, so want to take it apart and redo it and then finish it.
The second project was a handbag. I did get it finished but the cord that was used for a shoulder strap unraveled so, I will either make another one, or partially take it apart and redo it. For this project, we got to use the Embellisher, serger and......The Ellisimo!!!! What a fantastic machine. I would dearly love to have it, but it is just way too much money for this country girl! I still plan on getting the Ellegante tho, hopefully by next year. Just depends on the finances.
The 3rd project was taking a sweatshirt and redoing it into a jacket. That was lots of fun and I actually completed it! Only thing I need to do is take it upstairs and frayblock the tails and cut them off. It was done using the Serger, (Evolve) and the coverstich. Lots of fun and easy to do. I would like to make more of these.
I got to meet Nancy Zieman and she is such a down to earth, real person. Very approachable and friendly. She autographed 2 books for me. Pattern Fitting and Redesigning Denim. I also bought the pattern fitting DVD, along with Designers Gallery Interactive Software, Gifts Galore. Looking forward to using it. My biggest problem is my laptop is not working like it should and keeps crashing on me and needs to go in the shop. Maybe next month? This month I have to pay Pigeon Race fees and other things that weren't figured into the budget. Bleh....Sucks being on a budget.
I'll post pictures when I take them.
My friend Sharon bought the Evolve at the retreat. She got a fantastic price on it. Poor thing was having such buyers remorse! I know she will love it after she starts using it.
